RSPA COVID-19 UPDATE


FIRST RSPA LEAGUE MEETING FOR TEAM REPS:
The first RSPA league meeting has been tentatively rescheduled for Tuesday, April 28, 2020.
This should give us some time to see how the Covid-19 virus plays out.
The meeting will be drop-in style, anytime from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm,
at The Irish Shebeen Pub, 5555 Eglinton Ave. W., Etobicoke — map
If the virus is still active, we will decide if the meeting is to be held as rescheduled, and if so we will take every precaution to limit possible exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

Any team rep that still feels that the meeting is an unnecessary risk, there are steps that may be taken to skip the first meeting.
1. Please make sure that up-to-date new team info forms have been submitted. Team Info Form.
2. Please read RSPA First Meeting Agenda.
3. Please read RSPA Team Info Package - web page.
4. Please submit your RSPA team deposit ($300 for new team/$200 for returning team). This may be submitted by interac email money transfer to email accent@slopitch1.com or may be mailed or delivered to: 8 Buxton Court, Brampton, ON L6Z 3H9.
5. Balls and equipment may be picked up at the second meeting which will also be scheduled to a later date.
6. This will result in delaying the scheduled start of the regular season, but I am sure that the season will be played.

RSPA SEASON START:
RSPA season start will be tentatively rescheduled to Wednesday, May 13 and if necessary, to 2 weeks later to Wednesday, May 20. Please do not ask questions about lost games and making up lost games. We will look at all the options - extending the season, more double-headers, more Friday make-up games, Monday long weekend games for Monday teams, etc.

RSPA OPEN PRACTICES FOR NEW PLAYERS:
Decisions for RSPA open practices will be made at a later date, and may be made on a week-to-week basis.

RSPA/SPN UMPIRE CLINIC: All SPN umpire clinics have been cancelled and the RSPA/SPN umpire clinic will be rescheduled to a later date, tentatively Wednesday, May 6 at Diamond Beach. RSPA needs SPN carded umpires for recreational coed slo-pitch league. We will train and card. Eligible to umpire any SPN league or tournament. $45 single game; $70/$80 double-header; $100 3-gamer 6:30-11:00 pm. Get out get some exercise, have some fun and earn some extra cash.

RSPA REVISED SCHEDULE/TIMELINE:
• Sunday mornings and Thursday nights RSPA open practices TBA.
• Tuesday, April 28 - First RSPA league meeting at Irish Shebeen.
• Tuesday, May 5 - RSPA final league meeting at Irish Shebeen.
• Wednesday, May 6 - RSPA/SPN umpire clinic at Diamond Beach.
• Wednesday, May 13 - RSPA season tentative start.

IF YOU HAVE NOT CONFIRMED YET, PLEASE CONFIRM that your team is returning to RSPA Coed Slo-Pitch league for 2020 and confirm which night you will be playing. Teams cannot switch to Wednesday or Thursday without permission, and teams cannot switch to LATE games only, without permission, depending on returning teams.

The team rep meeting is for team reps only (not players looking for a team).

Every team rep who attends the meeting will be given
an RSPA and/or SPN T-shirt (and other gifts, while supplies last).
No team rep appreciation draw at the meeting.
Will do team rep appreciation draw for ALL team reps, at the meetings or not.

Equipment will be available for sale at the meeting
- bases, bats, extra balls, pitching mat, uniforms, used ball gloves, etc.

Vote for your RSPA 2020 League Executive. Baseball equipment and uniforms will be available for sale.
League deposit required - $300 for new team; $200 for returning team;

We strongly recommend leaving post-dated cheques for final payment, tournament fee and banquet deposit.
Late payment of fees will result in late payment fines and automatic suspension of schedule.

RSPA League Costs for 2020

Despite further increases in park fees, insurance, SPN registration, umpires and other costs, we have maitained the RSPA team fees. Returning teams league fees are $1550.00, still one of the lowest league fees in the GTA and a great value for what is included.
New teams pay $1550.00 + $250.00 = $1800.00 - Includes parks, permits, insurance, SPN registration, carded umpires, game balls and also subsidizes the league banquet, All-Star night, volleyball night, etc.

As well, all teams MUST PAY:
Tournament Fee: all teams - due June 13 — $ 350.00 (Tournament is mandatory for all league teams)
Banquet deposit: due August 1, 2020 — $ 220.00 (Banquet deposit 4 tickets x $55.00 = $220.00)
(Banquet deposit is usually minimum 6 tickets per team; for 2020 will be 4 tickets per team)

PLEASE NOTE: The tournament fee and banquet deposit are an integral part of the league and the league fees. We only keep them separate for financial control reasons. If your team is not prepared to pay tournament and banquet fees, please find another league.

  9. Any team that does not get league fees and payments to the league on time will be fined and suspended.
  10. It is YOUR responsibility to get the fees in. It is not our responsibility to chase you for it.
  11. Invoices and/or receipts are available. Somebody on your team may be able to write it off.
  12. League deposit payments are non-refundable.
